How we keep this trustworthy

We're parents of autistic children. We take accuracy seriously, write in plain language, and never put guesswork before your child's wellbeing.

Our values

We are neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based. Autism is a difference in how a person experiences the world — not a tragedy, and not something to cure. Our goal is to help your child communicate, learn and feel comfortable as themselves, and to help you feel confident and supported.

We use identity-respectful language, alternating "autistic child" and "child with autism." We never make false promises about cures or guaranteed outcomes, and we don't sell fear.

Our editorial process

Every Learn article is built the same careful way:

  1. Sourced from reputable bodies — we take facts from organisations such as the NHS, CDC, AAP, NICE and peer-reviewed research.
  2. Rewritten entirely in original plain language. We do not copy text from other sites, charities or commercial products.
  3. Reviewed by a parent of an autistic child for real-world usefulness and tone.
  4. Reviewed by a relevant professional (for example a speech and language therapist, occupational therapist or paediatric adviser) for accuracy.
  5. Dated and revisited. Each page shows when it was last reviewed, and we update pages as guidance changes.

Note for this template:reviewer names on articles are role-based placeholders (e.g. "Parent Review Panel", "Speech & language therapist"). Replace them with your named reviewers and their credentials before launch to strengthen trust signals.

Corrections

We're human and we want to get it right. If you spot something that's inaccurate or out of date, please tell us at hello@autismparentguide.org and we'll review and correct it promptly, updating the "last reviewed" date.

Privacy

We respect your privacy and your child's. Our tools are built to keep your data with you:

  • Your photos never leave your device. The card builder and schedule maker run entirely in your browser — images you add are processed locally and are not uploaded to us.
  • No account required. You can build and download everything without signing up. Saved projects (optional) are stored in your own browser.
  • No ads, no selling data. We don't run ad networks or sell personal information.
